BAS RELIEF:

Rarely is it suggested or encouraged to create a textured surface on a project. The ability to create a visual surface texture overrules the need to make a physical surface texture, and obviously is not as permanent. We all know that tastes change, and it is much more difficult to un-do a physical texture than to simply paint over a visual one.

However, when a physical texture is called for, there can be nothing more striking, more beautiful and more unique.

Bas-relief is the creation of such a physical surface – where the shape, texture or visual motion really can’t be expressed better through any other presentation.
